CREATED THINGS
Heb 12v27: The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken —that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
If you read the above scripture very carefully, you'd realise 1 very obvious truth that is yet to sink into much of the modern day 'glizzy' Church's 'head.' The scripture above very clearly says that THE LORD INTENTIONALLY SHAKES THE 'CREATED' THINGS IN ORDER TO REMOVE THEM. This is done so that the things that cannot be shaken, namely THE KINGDOM OF GOD (Heb 12v28), may remain. In other words, God doesn't even WANT TO RISK created 'things' endangering the Kingdom of God (whose Kingdom we are!). This is in stark contrast to 90% of the modern day Western Church, which is all too happy to ignore this scripture, and give pride of place to as many 'created things' as they can. CREATED THINGS that include as many light machines, comfortable chairs, smoke machines, big screen TVs, games machines and anything else under our cultural sun that you could think of. Contrary to popular opinion, God does not want Churches indulging in all these things, He is not please with their 'justifications' for them, and it is quite simply not His will for His places of worship to dress themselves as though they were palaces (Luke 7v25). Those CREATED THINGS are at odds with SPIRITUAL THINGS. Why is this the case?
Firstly, this is the case because, whereas spiritual things cannot be shaken and removed, physical things CAN BE. If faith, trust and love starts to go from solely being upon Jesus Christ, onto Jesus Christ + created things, our faith is in great danger of being attacked and maimed, and our usefulness for the Kingdom severely hampered. If our faith starts to go from Jesus Christ completely TO created things, then we are in a whole lot more danger and run the risk of shipwrecking our faith and becoming offended at God. It seems that Christians have started to believe that the Christian faith and even God Himself is intertwined with our great palaces of worship; that the palace reflects our God, and our God the palace. It is though we believe that the glory of God comes down upon us because of the great buildings we've made in His name (as though we were still in the Old Testament!). We believe that the beauty that we've made in created things, like the golden calf that Israel made, somehow represents who our Lord is. We also believe that created things are now the PRIMARY THINGS that God uses to evangelise and that we should use for worship and fellowship. And tragically, it is only when such things are shaken and taken away from us do we realise that this is the case, and that all such created things are UNRELIABLE and CAN FAIL AND CAN BE TAKEN AWAY IN AN INSTANT (whether by God or by man).
Many now would reject this, they would say that created things are reliable and that they can see no reason for them ever being in danger of failing or being taken away from them. They would also say that there is nothing of their faith that relies on created things or is even influenced by them. But how do they know that is the case if they've never experienced it? I'll never forget watching episodes of the TV show Survivor, when, in nearly every season, the contestants would be confident beyond all shadow of a doubt that the shelter they had made would stand up under any weather. Each season would be the same. They would all start out confident until THE WIND AND THE WAVES came, and all of a sudden their NICE and COMFORTABLE and 'weather proof' shelter wasn't so weather proof anymore. Suddenly they were 'cold' and 'miserable,' quicker than you can blink they started COMPLAINING and MUTTERING (Num 11:1) against each other, they began to become frustrated and angry with one another for THEIR FAILINGS, and for what THEY HAD BUILT. Who is building now? What is being built? Are created things being built? Are they being built alongside spiritual things? (talking about an OVER-indulgence of such things). The life expectancy for created things isn't long, what will happen when those things are shaken and removed by God? Will people blame men and themselves for the trust they established around such things, or will they become offended at the faith and at the God who warned them against such things? The Word says that TIME WILL TELL. Don't count on 'if' this will happen, but 'when'. Whether in this life, or the next, the shaking and removing will come. What will be left? The consuming fire will reveal what, and that fire is no respecter of persons.

ReplyDeleteWhat if war comes and the 'palaces' of worship can no longer stand? What if war drives Churches underground and only the created BASICS remain?
Many may scoff at this, but remember, two of the greatest wars our world has ever seen took place in the last 100 years of our earth. To think that we will never see such things in our lifetime therefore would be extremely naive.
