Years ago I went through a time when I got pretty frustrated
at how closed off people seemed to be with the Word of God, and the prophetic.
It was very alarming to me and very upsetting, especially since the Lord had
started to reveal to me what was coming in the future. Admittedly, this is a
sorrow and frustration I've faced from time to time since then as well.
However, the reason I bring this up is that, at that time when I felt
particularly alarmed and exasperated, I had a prophetic experience that was
unlike anything I’d ever had. In 2008, on the morning of the 5th of
June at 5am, I woke up in the morning and the following scripture went through
my head:
Psalm
27
‘4 One thing I have desired of
the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All
the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His
temple.
Straight after this went through my head, my whole
body began to shake, including my head (it was like someone had gotten a hold
of me and started shaking me like an earthquake was going on). I really didn’t
know why this was happening at the time, and while I was shaking, I also heard
a terrifyingly blood-curdling woman’s scream. I realised that the sound of this
scream was in my ears and seemed to come from my ears themselves, and that I
was not hearing anything that was happening around me (I had never experienced
this before and never have since). Right after I had this prophetic experience,
I was a little confused as to why the Lord would have given me the scripture
above, and then a revelation that was about how in the future a great shaking
would come, and terrifying things would take place. However, in the days
following this, the Lord revealed to me how the whole prophetic experience fit
together by leading me to read the rest of the scripture above, for just after
verse 4, in verse 5, Psalm 27 reads:
V5 For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His
pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall
set me high upon a rock.
Read together, the portion of scripture reads like
this:
Psalm
27
‘4 One thing I have desired of the
Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the
days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His
temple. V5 For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In
the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high
upon a rock.
It was clear that the Lord was saying that though a
great shaking is coming (i.e. how He allowed me to experience a physical
shaking), like what He led me to read about in the Word in the days that
followed the experience-
Isaiah 2
and to holes in the ground
from the fearful presence of the Lord
and the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises
to shake the earth.
-that though this great and terrifying shaking that
will occur, that through this time He will supernaturally protect His people
and keep them safe with Him. The Lord was revealing that He will protect those
that love, follow and inquire of Him. What a blessing! What an encouragement!
The Lord desires to keep His people safe in the days to come! I knew that this
was not only an encouragement for the people of God, but an encouragement for
His people to ensure that they receive and can receive this protection by,
again, following David’s example as one who actively loved, followed, and
inquired of God. An extremely sobering, difficult and hard time is coming upon the earth, but His people, who are really His people, have nothing to fear. We will always be sinners saved by grace, but what the Lord desires is for us to continue on in His grace and to follow Him in the way that we know by His Spirit, Word and the conscience He's given us, that we should.
God bless!
*Most of the passage
of scripture from Isaiah 2-
Isaiah 2
10Go into the rocks, hide in the ground
from the fearful presence of the Lord
and the splendor of his majesty!
11The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled
and human pride brought low;
the Lord alone will be exalted in that
day.
12The Lord Almighty has a day in store
for all the proud and lofty,
for all that is exalted
(and they will be humbled),
13for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty,
and all the oaks of Bashan,
14for all the towering mountains
and all the high hills,
15for every lofty tower
and every fortified wall,
and every stately vessel.
17The arrogance of man will be brought low
and human pride humbled;
the Lord alone will be exalted in that
day,
18and the idols will totally disappear.
19People will flee to caves in the rocks
and to holes in the ground
from the fearful presence of the Lord
and the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to shake the earth.
20In that day people will throw away
to the moles and bats
their idols of silver and idols of gold,
which they made to worship.
21They will flee to caverns in the rocks
and to the overhanging crags
from the fearful presence of the Lord
and the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises
to shake the earth.
Psalm 27
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom
shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be
afraid?
2
When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My
enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3
Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall
not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
4
One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That
will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my
life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
5
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His
pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall
set me high upon a rock.
