‎1 Tim 4v1: The Spirit clearly says that in latter times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Something like this sounds so alarming that often we just don't want to believe that its true, or that if it is, it's only true for those living in the places of the world that are poor and beset by violence and turmoil. The Spirit however, says that it is true and that some that are part of the faith will follow spirits they think are true and yet in reality are deceiving them. This verse says that even demons will be teaching things and so it seems only sensible that we should always be on our guard and always ready to except the preached Word and yet also to bring it back to the Bible to see if the things that we are hearing are true. This requires a diligence of us that if we are lax about, we may face much more trouble than we had thought possible in our faith.
